Alcovy High School

Upon graduation she began attending Miles College on a full athletic scholarship. While at miles she played four positions in basketball including power forward. Mrs. Gibbs also ran track, she ran the 100- and 200-meters dashes and the 4x100 relay, ran cross country, and was a shot-putter. She participated in athletics all four years and assisted in coaching basketball in her fifth year. While playing basketball at Miles earned the prestigious acknowledgments of MVP, Rebounder of the year, offensive and defensive player of the year and set a school scoring record of 49 points in a single basketball game. All this going to solidify her spot in the Miles college Hall of Fame. While at Miles she also proudly became a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

While in college Gibbs also excelled academically and received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree. After graduation she proudly decided to return to her beloved Newton County and give back to the system that help mold and create her success path. She accepted Employment with the Newton County School System. Wanted to give more to teaching and her career she obtained a Masters Degree from Troy University and an Ed.S. from Lincoln University. Over the years Gibbs has given so much to the students and families of Newton. She actively works to make her community and the world at large a better place.
     Today she is a part of a dynamic Administrative team at Alcovy High School, and works with the best staff and teachers on the planet. She loves her role as the assistant principle presiding over the ninth-grade academy because it allows her the opportunity to meet the student fresh into a wonderful new high school experience.

Gibbs, is a wife and a devoted mother of 4 wonderful children Britt, Destiny, Lydia and DeAngelo. She is also Coco, to two sweet grand babies Bryson and Kya.
